      How to play

Floodlight Baseball is a dice baseball game played on a lit-up mini stadium, the digital edition of the tabletop game. Each at-bat is one roll of a word die, the players run the bases, and the LED scoreboard keeps the game. In Simulation mode, each team also draws action cards, gets one designated hitter, and every player has an ability they can use once a game. Play vs Computer (you're RED, pick home or away before each game) or 2 Players to pass and play with a friend, or Online to play over the internet: find a game with whoever is looking right now, or start a game and send a friend the code. Want a whole season? Hit Franchise: 32 games in a 24-club league, playoffs, and the Floodlight Series, with every stat saved. Short on time? Clutch Challenges drop you into the late innings of a close game, with a new Daily Challenge every day.

      Player abilities

Every player card has one ability. Each player can use theirs once a game. Buttons light up under the Roll button when one can be used; the rest pop up on their own the moment they apply. Iron Man and Ageless are always on. RED and BLUE use the original ten abilities; franchise players can have any of all twenty.

        What's printed on the die

        Base running

        • Walk: batter to first. Runners move up only if forced.
        • Single: runners on second and third score. Runner on first goes to second.
        • Double: runners on second and third score. Runner on first goes to third.
        • Triple or home run: everyone on base scores.
        • Roll for Home Run: roll the D12 again. K, Out, Double Play or Walk means it's caught at the wall (batter out, runners stay). Anything else is a home run. A Slugger can skip the second roll once a game.
        • Roll for Triple: roll the D12 again. Roll for Triple again means a triple. Anything else, the batter is thrown out at third.
        • Double play: with a runner on first and fewer than 2 outs, the batter and the runner on first are both out. Otherwise it's a normal out.
        • K and Out: runners stay put.

        Action cards

Twenty-four cards, two of each, shuffled face down. Each team draws one at the start of its turn at bat in the 1st, 4th and 7th innings. Tap a lit card to play it. Defense cards are played while you're in the field. Cards marked auto pop up on their own the moment they can be used.

          Designated hitters

Sixteen cards, shuffled face down. Each team gets one per game, to use any time in innings 1–8. Tap DH to send one up blind. They bat once: twelve of the sixteen reach base (walks, hits, even home runs), but four come up empty. If they reach, they take that spot in the batting order until they're out, score or the inning ends.

            Pitchers

Every team has three pitchers: a Starter for innings 1 to 6, a Reliever for the 7th and 8th, and a Closer for the 9th and any extra innings. They don't change a single roll (the D12 is the pitching), but they keep the record: every hit, walk, strikeout and run goes to the pitcher of that inning. Each game has a winning and a losing pitcher, and the Closer gets a save for coming in with a lead of three runs or fewer and finishing the win. In a franchise, every club has its own three, with season and career stats.

            Weather

Franchise mode. Every ballpark has its own weather: the most rain in Seattle, Portland and along the East Coast, hardly any in the desert Southwest, and wind at the windy parks. Rain delay: the tarp comes out, then play picks up where it left off. Rainout: the game is made up the next day in a doubleheader, both games at one park. Wind blowing out: on Roll for Home Run's second roll, a Walk or a Double Play is a home run too. Wind blowing in: on that second roll, a Single or a Double is caught at the wall.

At the table: roll the D12 before the game. Roll for Home Run means the wind is blowing out, Roll for Triple blowing in. At a rainy park, roll again: a Walk is a rain delay, a Double Play a rainout. League settings can turn the weather off.
